On December 6, local time, China’s third nuclear power unit exported overseas, Pakistan’s Chashma Nuclear Power Unit 3, reached the final acceptance criteria and passed the Pakistan national acceptance. After acceptance, China National Nuclear Corporation will continue to assist Pakistan's original committee in the operation and maintenance of the four Chashma nuclear power units. So far, China National Nuclear Corporation has delivered another nuclear power plant that can be assured by the Pakistani people.

The construction of Chashma nuclear power is an important measure for China National Nuclear Corporation to actively implement the “Belt and Road” initiative and the nuclear power “going global” strategy. During the acceptance period, Li Xiaoming, assistant general manager of China National Nuclear Corporation and chairman of China Nuclear Construction, and Saeed Ur Rehman, nuclear power committee member of the original committee of Pakistan, delivered speeches on behalf of both parties.

Chashma is the starting point for China-Pakistan nuclear energy cooperation. In 1986, China and Pakistan signed the "Cooperation Agreement on the Peaceful Use of Nuclear Energy", which opened the prelude to nuclear energy cooperation between the two countries. On December 31, 1991, the Qinshan Nuclear Power Plant, the first nuclear power plant in mainland China, was connected to the grid for only 15 days. China signed a contract with Pakistan to build the same reactor-type units, realizing the export of "original" nuclear power units abroad, creating a domestic single item at that time The record of the largest project export funds and the highest technological content, thus creating a precedent for China's nuclear power to "go global."

Four units of Chashma Nuclear Power were general contracted by China National Nuclear Corporation Zhongyuan Company. For more than 30 years, China National Nuclear Corporation and the original committee of Pakistan have jointly written a magnificent chapter that witnesses Sino-Pakistani friendship: The first nuclear power plant in Sino-Pakistani cooperation-Chashma Nuclear Power Plant Unit 1 is hailed as a model of "South-South cooperation" , Has been operating stably for nearly 20 years; on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan in 2011, Chashma Nuclear Power Unit 2 was put into commercial operation; Chashma Nuclear Power Units 3 and 4 are deepening of the all-weather strategy by the Chinese and Pakistani governments In the context of the partnership, the major project to consolidate the brotherhood between the two peoples is also a strong evidence for the two countries to further explain to the world the peaceful use of nuclear energy; Karachi nuclear power units 2 and 3 are also under construction in an orderly manner.

Since the 26-day provisional acceptance of the unit in advance of the contract plan on December 6, 2016, with the joint efforts of China and Pakistan, the unit has been operating safely and stably for three years. According to the latest data from the original committee of Pakistan, the four units of Chashma Nuclear Power are currently operating in a stable state, with good safety indicators and operating performance. The installed capacity of the units exceeds 1.3 million kilowatts. As of October 31, 2019, the total power generation of the four units 74.546 billion kilowatt-hours have provided clean, efficient and safe electricity to Pakistan, which is short of energy.
